South Wales FOLK MUSIC related web site
I have lived in South Wales for 36 years and was actively involved with Pontardawe Festival for almost 30 years. I ran the Valley Folk Club, Pontardawe for several years and currently do their web site and publicity. I still go to various festivals at which I have minor roles. I attend several folk clubs and still travel to gigs a fair distance from home. As a previous organiser it has become of great concern to me that many gigs were badly attended because of lack of publicity in the right places. I started to email a small group of friends with a list of folk music related events I knew about in the South Wales area. This grew and I am now in contact with a large number of people by email and the information on the list is often used by Frank Hennessy on his Celtic Heartbeat BBC Radio Wales programme and TAPLAS - Wales folk magazine. I am happy to say that the list has helped to increase audience size at many venues and because of this success it seemed a logical step to publish the information on this web site. I hope you find it useful.
